This section deals with traffic offenses that are going to federal court. There are many types of offenses that can land one in federal court, but among the most common are what are called “petty offenses.” Unfortunately, petty offenses aren’t al that petty. These offenses are actually criminal, but what they have in common is that the offenses took place in a federal jurisdiction such as a waterway, military base, federal building, national monument, park, or forest.

Petty offenses have the ability to affect a person’s finances, freedom, and driving privilege.
